IN ITS DEFENCE.

After reading Top Gear’s recent review there is a strong suggestion that there is not a more capable vehicle available right now. It’s a cliche to say ‘ well how many of them will actually be used properly’ but cliche are so because they are based on what usually happens. And yes there will be a lot around town for sure but what I really hope that they are taken up commercially and not just urban spec with big wheels and useless tyres. I want to see base spec 90’s in green with white steel wheels on every farm trap mucky and preferable with a sheep dog on the seat! Will it happen, I am not so sure. Not yet anyway. Its got to loose some of its chic first, its got to stop being the next big thing, it needs not to be a fashion statement and then the residuals will fall, it looks like they have made enough for this to happen fairly soon.
Land Rover launched with plenty of ‘workhorse’ models but I think this was more marketing for people like me I am not sure how many farmers were ideally waiting for the launch and press photos. They will want a replacement truck and if they can be convinced of its capapbiliteis and get the price right they will take the plunge. The big question for the future of JLR will be if they are happy to in 3 years drive it right back to the dealer for a fresh one only to begin to fuck out up again but hey is this not what they were bought for? I hope so. So in 5 years I can buy a ex-farmer battered 90 for hauling my bikes and kids around in and the cycle is complete and KHAN will have moved to another monstrosity with Urban close behind
