M3 & M4 GRILLED

Well its been a couple of weeks since the release of the super anticipated new generation G series M3 and M4. The G-series has been out for a while in many variations, the 330e Touring being my choice of the range as it stands. Maybe the deign is a product of a backlash from journalist and commentators about many of the BMW and Audi models for that matter sharing to much of a ‘design language’ W have definitely seen bolder front ends, usually based around a statement grill on higher models from both manufactures. The question with the new M3/4 seems to be is this a step too far.
The design changes from the non M ‘G series’ cars starts with a stand up large kidney grill which meets a bonnet with two deep channels something I have not seen in car design for sometime. Now I am not going to join the debate of whether it works or does not but focus on the positives of bold design.
A famous film critic can often be heard saying he prefers when a film shoots high and fails than takes no risks at all and does nothing to change the landscape of cinema. So what I would say is I like bold design and by default a bold design is going to have its lovers and equally its haters. What is surprising for me is that such a big brand like BMW has taken such a path, maybe they did not anticipate it would be so devise and will end up when the time comes for a facelift back pedal a little. What I hope is that they were well aware of the statement the car was making - ‘we might not be for you and that is okay’
I have lead with a black M3 which was not actually part of the release pictures but actually from the release of the new bolt on accerroies available for the car. I would love to think that I would order an M4 in high vis yellow but the truth of is it I wouldn’t for finical and self concuss reasons it would be black for me
